Stephen retired on Feb 29, 2026. We appreciate his six years with us!
Stephen joined SSF’s CAD staff in 2019. Originally born and raised in Milwaukee (though admittedly not a Cheesehead), he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Following graduation, he had some work adventures at Glacier National Park and Sun Valley, and eventually moved to Eugene, where he completed his Master’s of Architecture degree at the University of Oregon. For 28 years, he worked with a variety of prestigious Seattle architecture firms, and in 2019, he joined SSF’s CAD team. In his non-work time, Stephen and his husband, Matthew, enjoy sailing and traveling – mostly to nearby Oregon beaches – but they hope to go to Israel and Great Britain someday. Three four-legged friends also occupy the Kern house: Bean, Bruno and Moxie (2 dogs and a cat, respectively). Stephen and Bruno attend obedience training and are working toward their fourth title. The question is – who is training who?
