Demetri was born and raised in Kirkland and attended UW for both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. When he’s not at work, he enjoys rock climbing, most often at Little Si in North Bend, where he practices the same routes over and over until he completes them successfully. If not climbing, you’ll find Demetri bikepacking (correct, bike not back) around the Olympic Peninsula or Glacier National Park. When able, he and his girlfriend regularly travel to Greece to visit family, and while there, they take advantage of traveling to other destinations such as India, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, and many more.
Before joining SSF, Demetri worked on structural analysis and design for telecommunication towers, spent time with a small residential builder where he learned a lot about timber structures, and most recently designed bridges at an international engineering firm. Outside of engineering, he’s also been a math tutor (no surprise), a piano teacher, and even a fruit cutter.
