SSF had the opportunity to provide structural support for Jewel Box Cabin, a modern 950 square foot hideaway located next to Caribou Lake in Lutsen, Minnesota. The structure is exposed throughout most of the cabin, requiring close collaboration with the architect and home owner to support their vision. Large cantilevers and high snow loads required deep glulam floor beams hidden in the structure to provide sufficient strength and stiffness for the structure. The home features exposed firm beams and floor to ceiling windows that connect the interior space to the surrounding forest and lake.
