SSF teamed with Perkins and Will and Sellen Construction on a new 56,000 SF insurance headquarters building that replaced an aging facility with outdated amenities on the same corporate campus. The new building has more open space and better circulation for team members, modern amenities, and pedestrian-friendly street frontage improvements.

One of the outstanding features of the structural design was using two different mass timber structure types for the roof. The central atrium’s sawtooth roof design consists of CLT (cross-laminated timber) panels supported over glulam beams and columns. The roof structures for the two wings on either side of the atrium have DLT (dowel-laminated timber) panels supported over glulam beams and columns. The building’s lateral system is concrete shear walls and steel braced frames. The exterior façade is insulated precast concrete wall panels.
