The goal of the Canoe Trail Residence was to transform the dark, 6,800 SF, 1950’s-era home into a space full of light for everyday living and large family gatherings. It also includes an artist’s gallery and features much of the homeowner’s own artwork. The structural highlights consist of a two-story tall central staircase with a steel and cedar column, moment frames throughout to allow for full-height glass walls, and exposed metal and timber beams inside and out.
