SSF’s Recent Promotions

Swenson Say Fagét Structural Engineers (SSF) announced eight recent promotions. Chardie Byrne was promoted to managing principal/operations. She joined SSF in 2000, was promoted to principal in 2007, and has served as a member of SSF’s management team for the past 13 years. As a managing principal, Byrne will continue working closely with fellow managing principals, Dan Say, Blaze Bresko and Ryan Reichman, providing leadership and strategic vision to SSF’s internal operations.

Zane Kanyer, PE/SE, Brett Mozden, PE, and Brian Rittereiser, PE/SE, were promoted to principal. Kanyer and Mozden joined SSF in 2004 and became associate principals in 2013. Kanyer sits on the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation board of directors, the Washington Main Street Program advisory board, and leads SSF’s newly established Central Washington office in Ellensburg. In addition to historic preservation and adaptive reuse, he also designs multifamily and affordable housing projects, commercial and retail work, and residences. Brett Mozden, PEleads the firm’s workload and staffing processes and has been on the SSF management team since 2016. He teams with many of Seattle’s premier residential architects on new and renovation projects of all sizes, averaging 95 single-family home projects per year. He also provides structural design for retail and restaurant projects, commercial office, and public work. Rittereiser joined SSF in 2013 and became an associate principal in 2017. A member of the management team since 2020, Rittereiser primarily focuses on multifamily, retail, hospitality and office projects along the West Coast. Current projects are located in Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Portland and the Bay Area.

Evin Gibson, PE/SE, associate principal, and Sean Johnson, PE/SE, senior project manager, were both promoted to technical leads. They join Principal/Technical Director Greg Coons, PE, to provide additional guidance and tools for the entire SSF technical staff. Evin Gibsonjoined SSF in 2008, became an associate principal in 2018, and a technical lead in 2021. Gibson works extensively with Dogwood Industries on rapidly deployable building installations throughout the United States (155 projects over the past nine years), with McDowell Pile King on foundation piling and shoring wall design (88 projects over the past nine years), and on a variety of multifamily and mixed-use buildings. Johnson joined SSF in 2013, was promoted to project manager in 2018, and was promoted to senior project manager and technical lead in 2021. Johnson’s primary focus is on commercial office projects for high-tech clients in the greater Seattle region, and multifamily projects including market rate, senior and affordable housing. Currently he is working on a new luxury resort in Chelan, the new Kincaid Avenue mixed-use project in Sumner, and multiple tenant improvement projects for tech sector clients.

Mat Johnson, PE, was promoted to senior project manager. Johnson joined SSF in 2014 and was promoted to project manager in 2018. Since 2008, Johnson has designed structures for a wide range of project types. Currently, he is working on homes in Seattle, Cle Elum, Clyde Hill, Bellevue and Bainbridge Island.
