Tukwila, WA
The Southard will be a development of 18 affordable cottages for 60-80% of the area’s median income and the first of its kind in the area. Each home will range from 1,232 to 1,322 SF in three to four-bedroom cottage-style duplexes, each with a small porch. Two homes will house persons with disabilities and be managed by Parkview Services.
All homes will achieve net zero energy usage through highly energy-efficient systems and materials. Including solar panels, low-flow water fixtures, and recycled construction materials. These features make the homes more sustainable with the added benefit of making them more affordable to own.
It was named in honor of the late Patti Southard, greenbuilding activist and advocate for this project.
