SSF worked with Richartz Studios and Toepfer Construction to restore the historic 1910 C & C Paint Building located at 5221 Ballard Avenue NW. The team worked closely with the Ballard Landmarks District to remove the 1960’s stucco exterior finish and restore many historic features such as the brick facade and 2nd floor arched windows. This significant alteration triggered a city-mandated seismic upgrade which was accomplished by adding a two story steel moment frame over a steel braced frame in the basement. A new 3 story wood-framed addition was also added on the south side of the building to accommodate additional office and residential space.
