Abbott Construction recently finished the first phase of a four-phase remodel to Town & Country Market at 343 Winslow Way E. on Bainbridge Island.
The project is replacing the 57-year-old building’s outdated systems and placing all store departments on one level. When finished in summer 2015, the store will have an additional 10,000 square feet of elevated sales floor and lower-level office space, a reconfigured 30,000-square-foot sales floor, and a new exterior envelope and associated storefront and entrances.
Customers will get a new sushi station, larger culinary resource center, new seating, expanded food service/deli areas, and updated parking.
The first phase involved back-of-house improvements such as new electrical and mechanical systems.
Johnson Squared, the architect, will be seeking LEED certification for the project.
Zimmerman Architecture is the design and interior decor consultant, and Cushing Terrell is the store planner. Other consultants are Browne Wheeler Engineers, Swenson Say Faget, Fischer Bouma Partnership, Dark Light Designs, and Brightworks.
Major subcontractors are Williams Mechanical, Key Mechanical (refrigeration), BrN Engineering, Bird Electric, and Smith Fire Systems.
