The new 12,540 SF Tukwila Fire Station 51 is a one-story building housing six firefighters. As part of a 2016 bond issue, this is the first of two new fire stations. It was designed to improve the health, safety and mental well-being of firefighters, and project a sense of permanence, reliability and protection. The design team used massive brick walls and metal structures to emphasize the strength and stability of the fire department.
