Mukilteo, WA
This new, two-story, 18,000-square-foot structure is primarily wood framed, expressed visibly through exposed glulam columns at the exterior. Steel elements compliment the wood and create details such as sunscreens and canopies. Steel framing creates a large multistory circulation space between the council chambers and office space. This building received LEED Gold certification. Sustainable features include a green roof, geothermal heating, clerestory and large exterior windows for natural light, sunshades to control excess heat, low-volume toilets, and permeable concrete paving.
