Ethiopian Village Senior Apartments and Community Center

Ethiopian Village is a development of affordable senior apartments and a community center located at 8323 Rainier Ave. S. The new 5-story apartment building is four levels of wood-framed apartments over one level of post-tensioned concrete. It includes 90 studio and one-bedroom units ranging from 350 – 550 SF, a 5,000 SF community space, a cafe, a lounge area, an outdoor amenity space, and 43 parking stalls. The project also included the renovation of an existing 1-story, 9,400 SF masonry building for use as a community center.

The nonprofit Ethiopian Community in Seattle (ECS) has served the Ethiopian community since 1987. This 78,800 SF project received $10.7 million in December 2019 from the City of Seattle’s Office of Housing for the project. ESC teamed with Beacon Development Group, Human Good, and Environmental Works.
