Nestled between multiple environmentally sensitive areas, Creek House presented a unique set of design challenges. The project required careful consideration of both its natural surroundings and the structural integrity needed for the residence. A standout feature of this home is its 32-foot cantilevered section, which extends dramatically with a 16-foot back span. To achieve this, exposed steel trusses were employed, showcasing both strength and aesthetic appeal. These trusses are anchored at the back with deep concrete piles, ensuring stability and safety despite the challenging terrain.
To resist lateral forces, a combination of steel braced frames, concrete shearwalls, and wood-framed shearwalls was utilized, ensuring the structure remains resilient against seismic and wind forces. Creek House exemplifies the perfect balance of innovative engineering and environmental sensitivity, providing both functionality and beauty in a challenging location.
