St. Anne School Renovation & Addition

This project included a seismic assessment, renovation and addition to the existing un-reinforced masonry, three-story school building located on Queen Anne. A detailed report outlining the findings was produced. Subsequent to the report, a seismic design was performed to provide structural elements to mitigate the seismic deficiencies. To preserve the existing fabric of the school, the lateral system of the Social Hall/Gymnasium addition was used to support the existing facility. The addition literally holds onto the school from the outside during an earthquake by the use of steel channel drag struts that thread through the floors of the school.
