The Seattle Public Library renovated the Lake City branch to expand the public spaces, make room for new programs and changing technologies, and meet the needs of the surrounding dynamic neighborhood. Through reconfiguring and condensing staff space, an additional 1,600 SF is now available for public use, including three new meeting rooms. The project expands the children’s area, adds a teen area, and provides centrally located staff services. Re-imagined spaces are part of The Seattle Public Library’s strategic direction to increase access to library services, programs, and resources.
