Ferndale, WA
Located at the west end of downtown, the new 15,000 square foot Ferndale Library was complete in 2014. The design includes green HVAC elements such as radiant heating, natural ventilation and window placement to maximize daylight. Local materials such as plywood, cedar siding and insulated wall panels will be utilized during construction. Building placement on the site takes advantage of natural light and Mount Baker views, uses native plants to strengthen the habitat, and integrates parking and service access to reduce site impacts.
The Ferndale Library won an Honorable Mention at the 2017 AIA Washington Council Civic Design Awards.
