A four-story apartment building goes up on small Capitol Hill site

A new four-story apartment building has replaced a single-family house on a tiny Capitol Hill lot — just 2,600 square feet.

602 Flats is at 602 12th Ave. E. Each level comprises a single unit.

Three of the units are two-bedroom apartments with 900 square feet. The top floor has a 600-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment with a 200-square-foot private terrace.

A garage is at the basement level.

The architect and builder is Build LLC. Swenson Say Faget is the structural engineer and Civil Engineering Solutions is the civil engineer.

The building was designed to meet four-star Built Green standards, and includes two 40-foot-tall green walls with drip irrigation and a solar-panel rainscreen system.

Individual units have in-floor radiant heat.

Patric Hayes is the energy consultant.
