Seattle Fire Station #8

seismic and safety renovation of this upper Queen Anne fire station

Seattle Fire Station #8

Seattle, WA

This project was the seismic upgrade and renovation of the active Queen Anne neighborhood Fire Station #8. The station building did not meet current standards for seismic safety, and was too small to accommodate a full complement of apparatus support equipment.  The station received additional seismic bracing to meet current codes.  Other improvements included a modest expansion to the east to create space to house decontamination equipment, bunker gear, additional apparatus storage, vehicle maintenance functions and a laundry room. The existing administration and apparatus support areas were remodeled to accommodate major disaster and EMS storage as well as a battery charging area.
