The Jefferson workforce housing apartments are located in Seattle’s Central District near Seattle University. This new mixed use development consists of 40 one and two bedroom apartments for people making 60% of the median income. It also includes 4,500 square feet of commercial space designed for local businesses. The building is 5 stories of wood framed bearing walls over 2 levels of post-tensioned concrete. Steel balconies with precast concrete floors overlook East Jefferson St. Cantilevered steel canopies provide side walk coverings over 12th Ave and E. Jefferson. The building meets the Washington State Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard and includes green features such as heat recovery ventilation units, high performing windows, a low energy elevator, a high efficiency gas system, bioswales with water filtration systems, and a shared second-floor “plantscape”.
