Seattle, WA
This is a reconstruction and remodel of an existing home, along with a first-floor addition of a kitchen and family room. Modifications included adding an exposed steel and metal exterior decking system with an exposed steel stair above a daylight basement/master bedroom suite. Exposed steel framing supporting steel deck and concrete topping. Reinforced concrete shear walls were used to resist code level seismic and wind forces. The roof was framed with pre-fabricated gang-nailed trusses. The steel members and decking for the main house had to be carefully integrated with the architecture in order to create the desired interior exposed steel aesthetic.
