The new 3,800-square-foot Dick’s Drive-In restaurant at 24220 Pacific Highway S. in Kent is the first in South King County for the family-owned Seattle business.
The restaurant and 100-space parking lot occupy 2 acres of an 8-acre site fronting Pacific Highway South. The location was selected from the results of an online poll that gathered 170,000 votes.
Featuring the style of Seattle outdoor drive-ins, the Kent location maintains the original restaurant’s iconic 1950s look and architecture.
Locally manufactured rolled stainless-steel countertops were delivered in sections and then welded together on site. The counters serve as the platform for the window frames for the six walk-up order windows. One service window and a side-eating area is ADA-compliant.
LED lighting was used throughout the space.
The project received the 2019 Construction Excellence Award (for private buildings between $2 million and $5 million) from the Associated General Contractors of Washington.
