The King Street Station project was a seismic retrofit and historic renovation of the multi-modal transportation hub for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Work included strengthening existing unreinforced masonry walls and existing cross-braced steel frames in the clock tower. We also recommended strong backing of the tall masonry piers in the waiting room and placement of additional piles to penetrate liquefiable soils beneath the structure. The project received the AIA Seattle Chapter Commendation Award.
