Immaculate Conception School

seismic study and retrofit of an unreinforced masonry facility

Immaculate Conception School

Everett, WA

Swenson Say Fagét completed a seismic study and parapet and wall anchor retrofit to the historic two-story unreinforced masonry Immaculate Conception School.  Then in 2009, we completed a seismic study that resulted in a prioritized list of recommended seismic mitigation measures. The list was ordered by cost and potential reduction of seismic risk. In 2010, the school proceeded with the first of several of our recommended retrofit measures; parapet bracing, wall anchorage, and lintel repair.  The project was successfully completed during the summer break, and resulted in significant increase in seismic safety.
