Temple De Hirsch Sinai

a new 36,000-square-foot multi-use complex

Temple De Hirsch Sinai

Bellevue, WA

This project includes a sanctuary, social hall and religious education facility. The sanctuary consists of a 68-foot square ground floor with a 15-foot deep mezzanine on three sides. Four massive concrete columns define the inside of the mezzanine and two-story sanctuary. The structure is capped with a butterfly shaped roof, which extends in four directions. The roof slopes upward and outward from the columns to create clerestory windows at all four perimeter walls. The concrete columns cantilever off the mezzanine to brace the roof for wind and earthquake forces. The social hall is a high-volumed space with a roof terrace.
