Boxcar Apartments at 975 John

This 7-story, 145-unit apartment building is located in the South Lake Union neighborhood. This project features the ISSI Modular Frame Building System made from recycled steel. This system is more environmentally friendly than traditional wood framing, resists pests, warping and rotting, and has one of the highest sound insulation ratings in the industry. The modular wall panels are built off site and shipped to the site, saving an average of 15% on the construction schedule. Additionally, this system allows the building to exceed the traditional 5-story height limit of wood framed construction. The Boxcar Apartments will have 121 studio units, 24 one-bedroom units and feature a rooftop deck with a dog run, an outdoor courtyard, a fitness center and rec room, storage units, a bicycle commons and 70 underground parking stalls.
