Wolff pays $12M for Issaquah site

On Monday, The Wolff Co. closed on a $12.28 million deal to buy 30 acres in Issaquah where it plans to build 400 apartments called Issaquah Gateway and a senior housing project.

The site is bordered by Interstate 90 and Newport Way Northwest, adjacent to Sammamish Pointe condominiums.

Gateway will consist of 18 residential buildings plus a clubhouse. Sixteen will be three-story walk-up buildings with tuck-under garages. Two will be four stories with elevators and structured parking.

There also will be a multi-use trail and a 2-acre public park as well as a private park for residents.

A city planner said Gateway will be presented to the development commission for review on Sept. 23. That meeting is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.

If the commission approves Gateway, the project will go into construction review for permits, which could take two to four months.

Gregory Van Patten of Wolff said the goal is to start construction in November.

The project team is led by Via Architecture and Exxel Pacific. Others are: Urban Evolution, development consultant; Triad, civil engineer; Swenson Say Faget, structural engineer; TenW, transportation engineer; Talasaea, wetland consultant; Communita Atelier, landscape architect; and Creative Landscape Solutions, arborist.

Van Patten said the senior housing will start in mid-2016 and there will be about 145 units.

Project partners include VIA Architecture and the Wolff Company.
